OLINDA POOL REOPENED!

I'm proud to announce that the Olinda Pool WILL reopen! Councillors voted tonight 6 for 2 against (Cr Avery away) in favour of reopening the Olinda Pool.

"I'm glad that I can DELIVER on something that has taken over 7 years to get to", I felt the emotion as the gallery jumped up and cheered as council voted in favour of reopening the pool! This is why I ran for council!

I look forward to taking my family to this historic and well loved pool!

  1. What a great result for the people of the Dandenong Ranges. Our little Olinda Pool has caused such a stir - from being neglected to facing closure to now being put in the limelight and having the community get behind it with such passion and commitment.

Jason you have been instrumental in making a real difference. Thank you so much. Everyone looks forward to working with you and the council on the next stages, and progressing quickly so we can all get in and have a bloody swim!!!

  3. Jason,

Thank you for siding with the community on this. My family and I moved to Olinda several years ago, and were used to large, generic indoor swim centres stinking of chlorine and blaring with plasma screen televisions. The Olinda Pool with its shady trees, green grass and peaceful amenity was the most amazing change of pace for us, and we were very disappointed when it closed. I hope the re-opened pool retains the amenity which we love so much.

  4. Jason,

We've all come a long way together since the now legendary meeting of the 300 in October:). Your hard work, creative thinking, and community leadership in recent days has made all the difference.

And it was great to have you sharing a celebratory drink with us all at Kelly's after the famous vote on Tuesday night. Let's resolve to do again with the reopening of the pool a year from now.

    Many thanks

I look forward to you joining us for a game of cricket between the bins, a Splice, and a fight to see who can stay the longest on the truck inner tube..
