Olinda Pool Update #9
Hi there all, this update is to let you know who and what has been discussed so far with regards to the consultation process.
Thank you to those who have spoken up and suggested some ideas on how we can improve the process to date. This information has been passed on and the officers are well aware of some of the community's frustrations.
The online consultation process will not be taken down, as any day lost for the opportunity for people to contribute is one less person who can't have their say. Many have suggested that the "survey" is misleading and creates a "gloom" picture if Council resolves to repair the pool, this is not the case. Much of the costs are not just about the pool itself but the overall facility which is in a dire need of repair.
I have had reports from the consultation process that a number of community groups and businesses have been engaged such as:
- Local Traders
- Mt Dandenong Primary School
- Parks Victoria
- The Villages of Mt Dandenong Traders Association
- Olinda Primary School
- Hilltop Association
- Community Neighbourhood House
This to me is a broad range of members across the hilltop area and some of the responses have been very interesting and exciting.
Im still keen to hear from you and have spoken to the "save the Olinda pool group" president Mr Faul who has done a great job so far.
We are getting there! Again I want to ensure we hear from a "broad" range of community people from various backgrounds to ensure we get a proper understand of what the "Olinda Community" wants.
Those who feel the survey doesn't reflect what they want then may I suggest you submit a form and spell out exactly what you would like to see at this space.

ReplyDeleteI am pleased to hear that you will be coming along to the community meeting on October 7th at 6 pm so that you can share your thoughts and consult with the local community members. There will certainly be a broad range of community people there as well as the local MHR and Councillors.
This would also be a great opportunity or the Council Staff to come along.
It has taken a while to get the collaboration process going and I hear rhat other community groups have now been contacted for input- scouts. football and netball clubs etc These are the people who will be the users of the pool.
I would appreciate you posting details of the meeting on your web site and email your lists of constituents.
The venue is yet to be formalised but it looks like being the Olinda Community Centre October 7th at 6 pm.

ReplyDeleteOlinda Pool Meeting will be held at the Olinda Hall on October 7th at 6 pm. Thats the hall near the entry to the footy club.
Refreshmnets incl Pizza for kids.

Remember you are the representative for the community on the council?
Is there any council staff going to be present- they will be most welcome?
We are expecting oher councillors from other wards to be there.
They have expressed support.
The local State member is coming.
The federal memeber has been invited.
Local media will be coming.
Dont forget to wear your sunnies and best board shorts .
