About Jason

I began my career as a Paramedic in Darwin (my home town) where I volunteered with St John Ambulance and the Northern Territory Emergency Services. I fell in love with this type of work, so I went and studied to become a fully qualified Ambulance Paramedic. I worked in areas such as Darwin and Katherine.

I moved to North Central Queensland where I worked in some very remote locations such as Cloncurry, Mt Isa, Julia Creek and Hughenden. I later moved to Townsville (where the action was) and had some great experiences working a long side the Qld Rescue Helicopter crews. I ventured out to islands such as Magnetic, Hamilton, and Palm Island where at time would be working on my own.

I eventually moved to Victoria where I began with Ambulance Victoria. I moved my career along by coming a "clinical Instructor" educating our newest recruits! I then spent some time over in Vanuatu helping the local ambulance service and also getting some experience in hyperbaric medicine. Soon after I went on  to become a MICA paramedic where I am now based in Dandenong on a single responder unit. (busiest MICA branch in Melbourne).

I met Lisa (my wife) when volunteering with a motorsport medical service which provided medical services for events such as Moto GP, F1, V8 Supercars. We married in Bali and now have two gorgeous daughters Olivia and Mackenzie.

I have lived in Silvan now for a bit over 5 years and have just fell in love with it! Lisa and I built our home on our property (whilst she was pregnant with Olivia) and I must say enjoyed the process. Her family has lived and worked this land for over 50 years and still today at 70+ they are still out there producing some very yummy berries!

In 2012, I adopted a program from NSW called ROADwhyz. A young drivers awareness program that teaches our young drivers about the realities of road trauma. ROADwhyz Victoria is a non-for-profit organisation with volunteers from all emergency services, health and victims of road trauma. The 4 hour program targets the 16-24 yr age bracket and we come to schools, TAFEs, Uni's and clubs. This yer has seen us travel to places such as Terang, Traralgon and all over Melbourne.

The reason I decided to run for council was that I noticed a lot of angst among the community about how our council was running. So instead of sitting on the sidelines I thought "put up or shut up" so here I am!

I want to see a change in our council! Im excited about what we can achieve in the next 4 years, I want to get back to basics such as roads, footpaths, and drainage. I want to ensure our communities are safe through well prepared safety plans. I also want to see our least advantaged people get about and have access to all the facilities they need.

I look forward to seeing you out there in the community!
